A new Beastie Boys memoir is in the works so stop reading those 50 Shades books

The Beastie Boys defied genre categorization. So it seems fitting that their new memoir, due out in the fall of 2015 by Spiegel & Grau, will do the same. According to the New York Times the book will be more of an oral history. "Rather than a strict narrative patiently winding its way from bygone days, such a book might — in keeping with the group’s hypereclectic style — be a pastiche of voices, images, irreverent humor and pop-culture reference points." That is a lot of fancy talk and actually a little confusing. But Mike D and Ad-Rock will be at the helm and it will be edited by hip-hop journalist Sacha Jenkins so there's good reason to hope for the best.
